For many productions the cast is on book, having only minimal rehearsal, but there have been full scale productions as well. The intent of The Series is to illuminate the original work– often through irreverent comedy – adhering to the authors intent, staying as close to the actual text and plot as possible. Think The Moscow Art Theater meets The Carol Burnett Show. We have thus far presented The Women, Caged, Stage Door (at Town Hall), The Glass Menagerie, The Miracle Worker, Suddenly Last Summer, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Children's Hour, Harriet Craig, The Bad Seed, Cat on A Hot Tin Roof, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Ordinary People, Picnic, Interiors, A Patch of Blue, A Raisin in the Sun and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. Our roster of stars has included drag legends Charles Busch, Varla Jean Merman and John (Lypsinka) Epperson, Comedy Central’s Amy Sedaris, Broadway’s Julie Halston, Lisa Kron, Justin Bond, and Peter Freschette, downtown legend Joey Arias, Sweetie, Brenda Bergman, and Lily of The Valley and Tony Award winners Daisy Eagan and Jeff Whitty, and celebrities including Lily Tomlin, Isabella Rossellini, Joan Rivers, Tammy Grimes, Wallace Shawn, Andre Gregory, Lorna Luft, and Carole Shelley, among others.
