LIFE IS A ONE ACT PLAY Is a surrealistic piece of tragi- comedy that focuses on social and political anxiety, happening through the eyes of two contemporary characters who are roommates/partners. The male roommate Sal, played by Kevin Michell Martin, is American; Bina Sharif plays Karima, who is an immigrant. They both try to keep themselves busy and amused by any means possible while they are going through the lockdown in a very small downtown apartment.

Bina Sharif is an award winning playwright/actress/director/performance artist and a visual artist.

She has produced 30 plays in downtown theaters such as Theater For The New City, P.S.122, LaMama, Mabou Mines. Her highly acclaimed play, Afghan Woman, a response to Sept.11 and the subsequent war in Afghanistan, was produced in NY and then toured to Manchester England, Canada, Belgium and Pakistan and many drama departments at prestigious universities in the U.S. As an actress, she was nominated for the Joseph Jefferson award at Goodman Theater in Chicago. She has worked as an actress with great legends such as Lee Breuer, Irene Fornes, Vanessa Redgrave, Arrabal, Sarah Schulman, Robert Patrick, Derek Wolcott, Mustapha Matura (UK playwright), Canadian director Sheila James, Penny Arcade, Karen Finley, and others. She has an MD from Pakistan and a masters from Johns Hopkins university. She is a theater critic for Hi Drama and has her own theater blog. artsinternational.blogspot.com

Kevin Mitchell Martin: A highly acclaimed actor for his award winning play, “A TOUCH OF THE POE, directed by Bina Sharif which ran for 16 weeks in NY and then to Edinburgh where it was Pick of the Fringe and later played for a three month run in Prague. It also travelled to Heidelberg, Germany. Kevin has worked as an actor with Jim Sheridan, Curt Dempster, Irene Fornes, David Willinger, and Sarah Schulman.

He played Signore Alberghati in the US Opera Premiere of “MEMET” at the Metropolitan Museum. He holds a master’s degree in Education and is fluent in Italian.
